Our Field activities

Media academy:

Based on the rich field experience, IRDT has planned to initiate a floor for alternative media. As a result media academy has emerged. The objective of the academy is to do various activities related to media namely,

  • Organizing Seminars, Training and Workshops
  • Converting those learning experience into Media events and Expressions
  • Documentation and Research related to Media   

Based on these objectives the academy, IRDT  organizes trainings on Media Education and Alternative Media Skills. It also aims to produce Documentary films, Short films, Street theatre, Folk performances based on the learning. Replicating the production and collaboration with other media forums is also part of its activity.  

 

‘Nungu’

This is a film movement for the People, by the people and of the people.

This revolutionary rural film movement is facilitated by IRDT with special focus to empower women in rural Tamil Nadu.

 

The objective of the movement is to alter the consumer perspective of rural film audience in to creative one. The movement attempts to create alternative films, which voices the rural oppressed mass.

 

‘Nungu’  organizes creative workshops for rural women on alternative media skills.

It has trained participants in Short Film Making, Poster Making, Journalism, Radio Production for Community Radio, Folk Dance, and Theatre.

 

It also screens films for rural women and children and provokes discussion among them both in rural and urban areas. Film appreciation and criticism is part of the program.
